HAZER GRAPHITE ACHIEVES BATTERY GRADE MILESTONE

  • Hazer graphite successfully achieves >99.99% purity through thermal purification testing.
  • Independent testing by industrial mineral specialist, Dorfner Group, validates technical feasibility of upgrading Hazer graphite for higher-value applications
  • Successful upgrading advances pathway into higher-value battery applications including conductive agents and battery anode material
  • Combined with Hazer’s proprietary purification method, multiple methods for graphite upgrading available, enhancing product flexibility and commercial potential
  • Expands the potential application spectrum for Hazer’s graphite co-product, strengthening the economics of Hazer’s dual-product business model.
  • Electrical performance testing schedule to be carried out in 2H 2026

PERTH, AUSTRALIA; 13 July 2026: Hazer Group Limited (“Hazer” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that independent testing has confirmed Hazer graphite has been upgraded to over 99.99% purity (weight %) with thermal purification and verified as technically suitable for further evaluation in electrical and other high-end applications.

Hazer Group engaged ANZAPLAN, a division of the Dorfner Group and world leaders in battery-grade graphite and specialty minerals technology to undertake third-party graphite purification testing. ANZAPLAN provide specialist expertise across the graphite value chain including purification, advanced processing and battery performance testing for high-value applications.

Initial results have determined that Hazer Graphite can be thermally purified in excess of 99.99% purity making it possible to assess this material for higher end applications including battery conductive agent and battery anodes within Lithium-Ion and potentially Sodium-Ion batteries.

Hazer and ANZAPLAN now plan to conduct the recommended electrochemical validation testing in the second half of 2026.

Hazer’s CEO and MD Glenn Corrie said:

Developing high end applications for Hazer graphite has been a goal of Hazer for years and engaging the Dorfner Group has significantly increased our probability that the battery market will open up for our material.

”Completing the upgrading of Hazer graphite to this level is a major milestone in the development of an internationally available high-quality graphite for critical applications. Alongside battery materials, we continue to progress commercial opportunities in concrete, asphalt, steelmaking and water treatment, providing multiple avenues to maximise the value of our graphite co-product.”

As announced on 12 August 2025, Hazer has patented a low energy purification method for its graphite which may lead to commercially competitive use of Hazer Graphite in high end applications. With the use of conventional thermal purification now also available, Hazer Graphite is ready for electrical performance testing in battery applications with multiple pathways to upgrading.

Strategic significance for Hazer’s Graphite Commercialisation Strategy

If successful, processing of Hazer Graphite to battery-grade material expands the potential application spectrum for Hazer’s Graphite co-product and supports further evaluation of higher-value markets. Earlier in 2026, Hazer Graphite was qualified by Boral MTS as a suitable additive for improving the strength and

performance of both structural concrete and asphalt1. Furthermore, Hazer Graphite remains a strong additive and replacement for many applications in low emissions steelmaking.

This application development is part of a comprehensive and structured development plan aimed at commercialising Hazer’s co-product and providing outlets for licensees to commercialise their graphite co-product. Hazer expects that a large proportion of the graphite produced from Hazer facilities will go to large volume “drop-in” ready applications such as asphalt, concrete and steelmaking, but it is important to look to the higher value niche applications that require the graphite to be post-processed to expand application uses, geographic security and markets.
