The XPENG G9L flagship SUV makes its China debut, commencing a 64-market global rollout

XPENG introduced its new G9L flagship SUV at a dedicated launch event in Beijing, confirming that the model will enter 64 global markets and make its international debut on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show.

The XPENG G9L arrives as the brand’s next‑generation AI flagship SUV, offered in both BEV and REEV configurations. Measuring 5,120 mm long with a 3,100 mm wheelbase, it features a wheelbase‑to‑length ratio of 0.605 – an architectural choice XPENG says delivers superior cabin space and sharper handling than rivals in its segment.

As a premium model, the G9L integrates the company’s latest physical AI technologies across smart driving and the intelligent cockpit, powered by the XPENG VLA 2.0 model for fast cross‑region generalization. The SUV also uses the same Turing AI chip found in XPENG’s humanoid robot IRON, underscoring the brand’s vision of “car as robot.”

Safety and global readiness were central themes of the launch. XPENG confirmed that the G9L meets the design requirements of four major five‑star safety protocols worldwide. The vehicle has completed 192 crash tests across Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C‑NCAP, and CIASI, covering more than 110 individual test items. Over three years, prototypes accumulated over 6.74 million kilometers of road testing in 26 countries and regions. Its electric powertrain, engineered to global standards, has been validated in extreme environments around the world.

XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng also highlighted the company’s progress in humanoid robotics. He announced that the world’s first automated production line for advanced general‑purpose humanoid robots has been commissioned – an operation he described as “robots producing robots.” He emphasized that XPENG’s unified AI foundation powers both its vehicles and its robotics programs, explaining why the G9L is positioned as a technology flagship.

Production of the G9L will take place in Guangzhou, China, and Graz, Austria. It becomes the fourth XPENG model built at Magna’s plant in Graz, following the G6, G9, and P7+, and shares assembly lines with European luxury vehicles. The collaboration with Magna, formalized in 2025, has enabled XPENG to localize production in Europe and launch four models within a single year.

The company closed the event by confirming that the G9L’s global premiere will be held at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, where XPENG will exhibit in Hall 6. The Paris debut marks the first stop of a worldwide rollout that will bring the G9L to 64 countries and regions, signaling XPENG’s most expansive international push yet.
