Early insights highlight the SUV’s remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.249, an impressive achievement for a seven‑seat vehicle. According to Škoda’s aerodynamics team, every incremental improvement in drag directly translates into additional driving range – without increasing battery size. This philosophy shaped the Peaq’s development, where dozens of micro‑optimizations were engineered to work together as a unified aerodynamic system.
A major focus area was the airflow around the wheels, traditionally one of the most turbulent zones on any vehicle. The Peaq employs a suite of solutions including Air Curtain ducts, integrated wheel‑arch spoilers, underbody deflectors, active cooling shutters, and aerodynamic wheel covers. Notably, the Air Curtain inlets are positioned closer to the grille than usual, a decision driven by the clean, monolithic surfaces of the Modern Solid design language. Despite the unconventional placement, Škoda says the ducts perform just as effectively after extensive optimization.
The body itself contributes to the SUV’s efficiency, featuring smooth side surfaces, minimal transitions between glass and pillars, and flush, retractable door handles. Even the exterior mirrors were shaped to reduce wind noise and keep the glass cleaner for longer. At the rear, Škoda’s designers and aerodynamicists collaborated on a three‑dimensional roof spoiler, sharp trailing edges, and a functional diffuser to precisely control the vehicle’s wake and minimize drag.
