Mercedes‑Benz and ProLogium have taken a decisive step toward next‑generation EV batteries, signing a joint testing agreement that grants the German automaker priority access to ProLogium’s latest Gen4 Superfluidized All‑Inorganic Solid‑State Lithium Ceramic Battery cells. The move strengthens a partnership that has already spanned nearly a decade and signals Mercedes‑Benz’s intent to accelerate solid‑state battery integration into future electric vehicle platforms.
The agreement, announced on September 24, 2026, outlines a comprehensive evaluation program in which Mercedes‑Benz will conduct electrical, thermal, and safety testing at its in‑house battery facilities and external institutes. The results will help determine whether ProLogium’s Gen4 cells – designed around five pillars: intrinsic safety, high performance, high energy density, scalable manufacturing, and competitive cost – are suitable for upcoming EV architectures.
At the core of the Gen4 platform is a non‑flammable inorganic electrolyte paired with a ceramic separator and ProLogium’s proprietary Active Safety Mechanism. Together, these elements aim to deliver high power output, fast‑charging capability and improved low‑temperature performance while maintaining robust safety characteristics.
Vincent Yang, ProLogium’s founder and CEO, emphasized that the collaboration has evolved from early cell development into a pathway toward industrial‑scale deployment. He highlighted Mercedes‑Benz’s early investment, its support for ProLogium’s European expansion, and the role of France and the EU in enabling large‑scale production. ProLogium is currently advancing its Dunkirk gigafactory project, which is planned to reach up to 44 GWh of annual capacity and replicate the manufacturing model proven at the company’s Taoke Gigafactory in Taiwan.
Mercedes‑Benz CTO Jörg Burzer described the partnership as a strategic effort to combine ProLogium’s solid‑state innovations with Mercedes‑Benz’s integration expertise. Since 2016, the companies have validated multiple lithium ceramic cell formats – including pouch, prismatic, and Bi‑Polar designs – while Mercedes‑Benz has taken a seat on ProLogium’s board and supported its upcoming NASDAQ listing under the ticker PRLG.
ProLogium’s manufacturing footprint continues to expand. The Taoke Gigafactory has completed GWh‑scale validation and supports C‑sample production and demo car programs. The Dunkirk facility, now under detailed design and construction, is expected to reach 4 GWh in its first phase by 2030, with long‑term plans for full 44 GWh capacity. The company has also established an R&D center in Paris‑Saclay to support European customers.
Founded in 2006, ProLogium has accumulated more than 1,200 patents and delivered over 2.4 million lithium ceramic cells across consumer, specialty, and automotive applications. Its Gen4 technology – recognized with a 2026 Gold Edison Award – aims to merge the advantages of solid‑state and liquid batteries into a scalable, commercially viable platform.
ProLogium Technology has taken a decisive step toward commercializing high‑energy‑density solid‑state batteries, announcing that its Gen 3.5 Lithium Ceramic Battery (LCB) has entered mass production at the company’s Giga‑level facility in Taiwan. The milestone marks one of the first transitions of all‑solid‑state battery technology from laboratory and pilot‑line development into full industrial manufacturing…
