Škoda Epiq is official with new design and technology, affordable price

Škoda has officially unveiled the Epiq, its most affordable electric SUV to date, during a world‑premiere event held at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Zurich. Positioned as a compact, clever, and confidence‑focused EV, the Epiq introduces Škoda’s full Modern Solid design language and a completely new technical package aimed at bringing electric mobility to a broader audience.

The exterior showcases the brand’s new Tech‑Deck Face, framed by T‑shaped full‑LED headlights available in both standard and Matrix configurations. Aerodynamics play a major role in the Epiq’s efficiency, with active cooling shutters, redesigned wheels, Air Curtain channels, a flat underbody, and carefully shaped rear lights contributing to a drag coefficient of 0.275. A special First Edition will follow shortly after launch, featuring a 55 kWh battery, a 155 kW motor, exclusive 20‑inch wheels, a black roof, and distinctive Navajo Orange accents.

Inside, the Epiq continues the minimalist Modern Solid philosophy with a surprisingly spacious cabin and a 475‑litre luggage compartment, one of the largest in its class. Additional storage includes 28.1 litres of cabin compartments and a front trunk that will be added later. Upholstery options range from recycled polyester textiles to Techtona and Suedia materials, with multiple interior “Design Selections” offering different colour and texture themes. A 13‑inch Android‑based infotainment system provides an intuitive interface, seamless app integration, and remote‑control features via the MyŠkoda app.

Safety and driver assistance take a major step forward with the debut of junction assist, enabled by new corner‑mounted radar sensors that detect cross‑traffic from cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and scooters. The Epiq also supports Travel Assist 3.0, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and a new intersection navigation feature.

Built on the updated MEB+ platform, the Epiq introduces front‑wheel drive and revised brake hardware, including ventilated front discs and re‑engineered rear disc brakes. Three powertrain versions will be available: 85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW. The first two use a 38.5 kWh battery for a range of about 310 km, while the top version pairs a 55 kWh pack with an estimated 440 km range and 10–80% charging in 24 minutes. The electrical architecture also enables bidirectional charging (V2L and V2H), allowing the vehicle to power devices, homes or even contribute energy back to the grid.
