Audi has unveiled the all‑new A2 e‑tron, a compact electric model that places efficiency at the center of its design and engineering philosophy. Developed in Germany and built at the company’s Ingolstadt plant, the A2 e‑tron marks a strategic shift in how Audi approaches premium mobility for Europe: intelligent resource use, streamlined development, and technology designed for everyday practicality. Order books open on September 10, 2026, with first deliveries scheduled for December. Prices in Germany start at EUR 38,200 and in the UK at GBP 32,200.

With WLTP consumption as low as 12.8 kWh/100 km, the A2 e‑tron is the most energy‑efficient Audi ever produced. Its maximum WLTP range reaches up to 646 kilometers, depending on configuration. This performance is achieved through a combination of aerodynamic refinement, lightweight engineering, and a powertrain optimized for real‑world use rather than headline‑grabbing peak outputs. The drag coefficient of 0.24 sets a new benchmark in Audi’s compact segment, supported by features such as controllable cooling‑air intakes, an enclosed underbody, newly developed aero wheels, and gap‑reducing wheel‑arch elements. Even the wing‑shaped electric door handles contribute to airflow optimization while offering a modern haptic interface.

Audi offers the A2 e‑tron in four power levels ranging from 125 kW to 240 kW, paired with three battery sizes: 52, 61, and 84 kWh. The top configuration delivers 240 kW and 545 Nm, while the most efficient variant – the 140 kW model with the optional efficiency package – achieves the headline 12.8 kWh/100 km consumption figure. Fast‑charging performance reaches up to 183 kW on the 84 kWh battery, enabling a 10-80% charge in 29 minutes.

Vehicle‑to‑Load functionality allows the A2 e‑tron to power external devices such as e‑bikes or laptops, while Vehicle‑to‑Home capability in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland enables the car to act as a home energy storage unit when paired with a compatible DC wall box. Audi positions this as part of a broader shift toward intelligent energy use rather than simply increasing battery size.

Inside, the A2 e‑tron emphasizes versatility and comfort within a compact footprint. A new Softwrap design element creates a continuous fabric‑covered surface across the cabin, while an optional 1.6‑square‑meter panoramic glass roof brings light into the interior without compromising thermal comfort thanks to UV‑protective coatings. Audi introduces the Fidlock magnetic fastening system as standard equipment – a first for a premium manufacturer – offering modular storage solutions that click securely into place. Digital services include the Audi assistant with AI integration, e‑tron route planner, and productivity tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and an AI‑based Work Agent.

Sustainability extends beyond efficiency. Depending on configuration, the A2 e‑tron incorporates more than 300 components made from recycled materials, including over 100 parts using post‑consumer recycled plastics. Audi also designed many components for easier recycling at the end of the vehicle’s life cycle, aligning the model with the company’s long‑term circular‑economy strategy.

Production efficiency is another pillar of the A2 e‑tron’s development story. Audi brought the model to market 21 months faster than comparable predecessors by streamlining development processes and increasing pre‑series maturity. At Ingolstadt, more than 1,200 existing production components and around 250 repurposed robots are used to build the car, reducing investment and resource consumption. The plant also adopts the “pearl chain” production principle, a fixed order sequence system that simplifies logistics and improves throughput.

Standard equipment reflects Audi’s intention to deliver a premium experience even in its entry‑level electric segment. Emergency brake assist, evasive assist, attention assist, adaptive cruise control, parking system plus, and a rearview camera are all included. The cabin features an 11.9‑inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and a 12.8‑inch curved MMI touch display, complemented by advanced interior lighting and multiple sound system options.
