Volvo has launched the EX60, an all-electric mid-size SUV with up to 503 miles of range and 400kW rapid charging capability. Built on the new SPA3 architecture, it features Google Gemini AI integration and a 10-year battery warranty.

Volvo Cars has unveiled the EX60, an all-electric mid-size SUV offering up to 503 miles of range and the ability to add 211 miles of charge in just ten minutes.

The five-seat family vehicle is built on SPA3, Volvo’s new electric vehicle architecture, and represents the Swedish automaker’s first entry into the mid-size electric SUV segment.

“The new, all-electric EX60 changes the game in terms of range, charging and price and represents a new beginning for Volvo Cars and our customers,” says Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive of Volvo Cars. “With this car, we remove all remaining obstacles for going electric.”

The EX60 is available in three powertrain configurations. The range-topping P12 all-wheel drive variant achieves the 503-mile figure, while the P10 AWD offers up to 410 miles. A rear-wheel drive P6 variant delivers up to 385 miles per charge.

Rapid charging capability allows the vehicle to accept power from 400kW fast chargers, enabling the 211-mile top-up in ten minutes.

The vehicle incorporates several manufacturing innovations including cell-to-body battery integration, mega casting, and next-generation in-house developed electric motors. These technologies contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.26 and what the company describes as its lowest carbon footprint for a fully electric vehicle, matching the smaller EX30.

The EX60 is powered by HuginCore, Volvo’s core computing system developed in partnership with Google, NVIDIA and Qualcomm Technologies. It becomes the first Volvo to launch with Google’s Gemini AI assistant integrated into the infotainment system.

Safety features include Volvo’s multi-adaptive safety belt technology in the front row and a boron steel safety cage structure. The vehicle comes with a 10-year battery warranty.

Production begins this spring at Volvo’s factory in Sweden, with European orders now open and US availability expected in late spring. Customer deliveries of P6 and P10 variants start this summer, with the P12 following shortly after.
