Refreshed 2026 BMW i4 brings more range, more power, and smarter features

BMW is charging into fall 2025 with major upgrades to its all-electric i4 lineup, delivering more range, more power, and a sharper edge across the board. The 2026 i4 eDrive40 is expected to top 300 miles of range – regardless of wheel size – while the high-performance variant gets a serious power bump and a new name to match.

Say goodbye to the i4 M50 and hello to the 2026 BMW i4 M60. Alongside the renamed flagship, the entire i4 family benefits from cutting-edge silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, first introduced in the i5 series. These advanced components boost energy efficiency by improving how power flows from the high-voltage battery to the motors. SiC tech isn’t just more efficient – it’s also more heat-resistant and delivers stronger performance than traditional silicon semiconductors.

Thanks to these upgrades, the 2026 i4 eDrive40 now offers an estimated 333 miles of range on 18-inch wheels and 307 miles on 19-inch wheels, based on preliminary BMW AG testing using EPA standards. That’s a 15-mile and 12-mile improvement over the 2025 model, respectively.

The new i4 M60 doesn’t just inherit the SiC efficiency – it unleashes it. At startup, it delivers 510 horsepower, a 41-hp jump over the outgoing M50. Switch to My Modes Sport, and output surges to 593 hp, up 57 hp from last year. That extra muscle cuts the 0–60 mph sprint down to a blistering 3.6 seconds.

BMW also added practical and cosmetic updates across the range: a Seal & Drive Tire Kit becomes standard, the Parking Assistant Professional package now includes a Drive Recorder, and the Shadowline package gains black mirror caps and M Sport brakes with blue calipers for select trims. Glass Controls are now an option for every i4 model. For those craving a touch of luxury, Glass Controls are now offered across all i4 models.

Together, the changes sharpen BMW i4’s appeal – longer real-world range, bolder top-end performance, and a few welcome convenience and visual upgrades for buyers in 2026.
