Polestar said on Wednesday it plans to expand its vehicle portfolio with four new electric models scheduled for release over the next three years, describing the initiative as the “largest model offensive in its history.” The Swedish electric vehicle maker is seeking to strengthen its position in key market segments as global competition intensifies.
Chief Executive Michael Lohscheller said the expansion follows a strong sales performance and is aimed at driving profitability. “Following our best sales year ever, we are now launching the largest model offensive in our history, with four premium EVs coming to market within three years. We are targeting the heart of the EV market, where customer demand and profit pools are high,” he said, adding that an expanding retail network and customer base would support “profitable growth and operational improvement.”

Among the upcoming models is the Polestar 5, a performance-oriented electric grand tourer expected to begin deliveries in mid-2026. Lohscheller described it as a flagship vehicle for the brand. “Polestar 5 is our brand halo car, bringing a new level of performance and luxury to the grand-tourer segment. With incredible handling and a lightweight bonded aluminium platform, the four-door GT has already received fantastic reviews, as part of its launch tour across Europe,” he said.
The company also confirmed a revised version of its electric SUV, the Polestar 4, will launch later in 2026, with deliveries planned for the fourth quarter. Lohscheller said the model will build on the success of the current vehicle. “Polestar 4 coupé is our current best-seller. Already by the end of this year, we will launch a new variant of Polestar 4, based on the same great technology,” he said. “We are combining the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV with the dynamic performance that is Polestar.”

Looking ahead, Polestar plans to introduce a next-generation Polestar 2 sedan in early 2027. The model has been central to the brand’s identity, Lohscheller said. “Polestar 2 is the foundation of our brand, with over 190,000 cars sold and an enthusiastic community of customers. Bringing the next generation of this iconic car in record speed, by the start of next year, is very exciting,” he said, adding the vehicle “will play a key role of our future success.”
In 2028, the automaker intends to debut the Polestar 7, a compact premium SUV aimed at Europe’s largest battery-electric segment. “With Polestar 7 we are entering the largest EV segment in Europe, the compact SUV segment, which accounts for approximately one-third of total BEV volumes in 2025,” Lohscheller said. He added the company believes it “can offer customers a progressive performance-driven car for a very attractive price point, built in Europe.”

Lohscheller said the broader plan reflects confidence in the company’s long-term outlook amid the automotive industry’s shift toward electrification. “2025 was a year of continuous operational progress and delivery. With our attractive model line-up, strong shareholder support and partners with access to the latest technology, Polestar is set to become one of the winners of the automotive industry’s transformation,” he said.
The company did not disclose detailed specifications, pricing, or production locations for the upcoming vehicles.
