Jubril Arogundade has announced the establishment of Hybrid Motors Nigeria.

Jubril Arogundade has announced the establishment of Hybrid Motors Nigeria, an automotive company he says will expand access to vehicles that combine petrol with either compressed natural gas (CNG) or electric power, as well as fully electric options, through a nationwide supply and service model.

Making the announcement on his birthday on Saturday, February 28, Arogundade, who is commonly known as “Jubril of Lagos” for his remarkable achievements in the state’s automobile sector, said the company’s ambition is to build “a unicorn brand in the automobile industry” within the next five years, positioning Hybrid Motors Nigeria as a bridge between rising demand for cleaner mobility and gaps in availability, service capacity, and supporting infrastructure.

According to Arogundade, Hybrid Motors Nigeria will focus on seven pillars: local assembly of hybrid and electric vehicles; national distribution of petrol, hybrid and EV vehicles; aftersales service and training centres; spare parts supply and distribution; EV charging systems and stations with “energy intelligence”; auto asset financing; and auto asset leasing.

He said the company’s physical footprint will roll out in phases, with an official showroom expected to open in June, followed by a factory planned for next year. He also referenced strategic partnerships that he said would support the company’s entry and accelerate industry transformation, though specific partners were not disclosed in the announcement.

Hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles are drawing increasing attention in Nigeria as motorists and fleet operators seek lower running costs, fuel flexibility, and more predictable maintenance, amid broader interest in cleaner transport solutions. Hybrid Motors Nigeria says its approach is designed to combine product supply with service readiness—through training, parts availability, and charging infrastructure—so adoption is not limited by support gaps after purchase.

Further details on the company’s initial vehicle lineup, partnership structure, and rollout timeline are expected to be communicated ahead of the showroom opening, the company said.
