FTI is excited to announce the completion of our Excellerate division’s west expansion in Olathe, Kansas. After establishing a presence in this location in 2019, our latest expansion enhances our high-quality modular electrical work while strengthening our capabilities to train and grow our team. With team members now moving into the new facility, this milestone represents another step forward in our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
A Strategic Location for Enhanced Service
Olathe, Kansas, located centrally in the U.S., has been an ideal location for an Excellerate facility. Being centrally positioned allows us to efficiently serve our customers nationwide, streamlining our logistics and enabling rapid response times. The new facility also allows us to house our accredited Faith Technologies University (FTU) and more of our training programs in-house, including our job shadow and apprenticeship programs, which are crucial for developing the next generation of skilled professionals.
Transforming the Space
When we first acquired the site in 2019, we knew it had immense potential. The 442,000-square-foot original Kansas Excellerate facility began operations in 2019 and allowed us to meet client demand through the early 2020s. However, as demand continued to rise, we began construction in September 2023 on an additional 438,000-square-foot Excellerate facility right next to the original, providing almost one million square feet of combined manufacturing capability on the same property. Just as we had with the first facility, we customized the new building by installing industrial air conditioning units, efficient insulation, advanced lighting and control systems. We took occupancy of the second facility in July 2024.
A Hub for Training and Growth
This additional Excellerate facility is not just about increased capacity — it’s about investing in our people. The additional space also allows us to conduct more of our training on-site, including our job shadow and apprenticeship programs. By expanding these programs in-house, we’re ensuring that our team members receive hands-on training in a real-world environment, preparing them for the challenges of modern electrical construction.
Looking Ahead
With this expansion, we are well positioned to enhance our operational flexibility and serve new customers. The expanded Olathe facility provides us with the space to store more materials, train more team members and explore future opportunities. The new facility has incorporated additional office space, natural lighting, motion-sensor lighting and electric vehicle (EV) chargers for the comfort and convenience of our team members and guests. This facility reflects our forward-thinking approach and our commitment to being at the forefront of the modular electrical construction industry.
