EnergyAustralia, one of Australia’s three biggest privately owned energy utilities, says it is rolling out ten ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 7-Eleven stores in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
The first of ten ultra-fast EV chargers has already been installed at a site in Melbourne’s north, with another two to follow before EnergyAustralia moves on to 7-Eleven stores in the northern states.
Each charging site will feature either a 200 kilowatt (kW) or 400kW ultra-fast charger, enabling drivers to charge from 20 per cent to 80 per cent capacity in as little as 12 to 15 minutes.
The chargers will be accessible on the Chargefox app or by a tap-and-go credit card payment at the unit. Each location will also be listed on PlugShare.
Installation across all three Victorian sites is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, with the remaining seven EV charging sites to be split between four in New South Wales and three in Queensland.
“Range anxiety and charging inconvenience remain real barriers to EV take-up in Australia,” said Jack Kotlyar, head of green transport at EnergyAustralia.
“Putting fast, reliable charging stations at locations people already know and visit regularly means topping up can become as natural as stopping for fuel has always been.
“Bringing fast, reliable charging to locations people already know and visit regularly is one practical way we can make that transition easier for everyday Australians.”
