A new partnership between the Youth in Parliament Forum (YIPF) and CAWIN Mobility Limited aims to equip 2,000 Nigerian youths with technical skills in electric vehicle (EV) maintenance and manufacturing. This initiative is designed to prepare the country for the growing adoption of renewable energy and green transportation.
The Director General of YIPF, Tony Nwulu, highlighted the importance of building local technical capacity for EV repairs and maintenance.
“One of the biggest challenges in the coming years will be who services electric vehicles when they develop faults,” he said. The partnership seeks to fill this critical gap.
The training programme, which commences on September 20, is open to all Nigerian youths across the country. “If you’re interested in electric vehicle repairs, simply visit our website at fill out the form, and you’ll be contacted,” Nwulu explained. The programme is completely free, targeting 1,000 engineering students and 1,000 mechanics.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to youth empowerment, sustainable mobility, and national development.
“We’re paving a path for the future because the future is electric,” said Hon. Ayodeji Alao Akala, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth in Parliament.
The partnership also introduces the Lawmakers Car Acquisition Scheme (LCAS), providing federal lawmakers with access to electric and conventional vehicles at affordable prices. This initiative promotes cleaner mobility and eases the challenges lawmakers face in carrying out their duties.
CAWIN Mobility’s Managing Director, Wayne Ji, emphasized the importance of preparing young Nigerians for the electric vehicle industry. “In China, electric vehicles drove a new wave of industrial revolution. We believe Nigeria can achieve the same transformation,” he said.
CAWIN Mobility will provide a complete EV ecosystem, including charging infrastructure, local assembly, supply chains, and after-sales support. This initiative aims to create jobs, diversify the economy, and make Nigeria a leader in West Africa’s electric vehicle revolution.
The programme is designed to empower Nigerian youths, positioning them at the forefront of Africa’s transition to renewable energy and green transportation. “You are not just beneficiaries—you are the future owners of this industry,” Ji encouraged the youths.
